The science behind Zeno CS is fairly simple in theory, but was very difficult to achieve. In fact, we were told it could not be done. It took the collaboration of our inventors, thermal engineers from NASA and medical clinicians to create a device that truly works. Zeno CS provides a healing dose of heat over a specific time period that triggers a heat shock response in the HSV-1 virus, causing the virus to self-destruct.
We did it. We have the patents and clinical results to prove it.
Zeno is covered by one or more of the following U.S. Patents: 6,635,075; 6,245,093.
Additional Patents Pending.
The herpes simplex virus has two different strains:
Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), the more common herpes simplex virus, is usually associated with infections of the lips, mouth, and face. The virus is most commonly transmitted during childhood through contact with infected saliva. It is estimated, by adulthood, that up to 80% of people have antibodies to HSV-1. Approximately 13% of the population experiences the virus in painful episodes of blistering and sores.
Herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2), the less common herpes simplex virus, has symptoms which include genital ulcers or sores and is sexually transmitted. Some people do not show symptoms and yet still have HSV-2. Between 20-30% of U.S. adults have antibodies against HSV-2.
Cycles
It has been shown that Herpes viruses cycle between periods of active
disease and periods of remission. When active, blisters containing virus
particles become present. This is the time when the virus is most
contagious and precautions should be taken to prevent transmission to
other people. It is best to avoid any contact with an open sore or lesion. An
active period is followed by a remission period, during which the sores
disappear and the virus returns to the sensory nerves where it remains
silent until the next cycle.
Phases
The phases of a cold sore typically are:
Inflammation: tingling, itching, swelling, puffiness, redness and sensitivity
Blistering: clusters of small fluid filled red bumps appear
Ulcerating: when the blistered skin breaks
Crusting: ulcers dry, scab and crust over until the next cycle
Healing: the virus retreats back to the nerves where it will lie dormant and the new skin, which may be slightly red or discolored, is safe to touch
Note: Not all cold sores progress to blisters and some may not crust before healing
